Proper management of soil nutrients and fertility is critical for maintaining efficient cotton growth and stable returns year after year.
A new webcast – titled “Managing Cotton Fertility” – has been added to the Focus on Cotton online series from the Plant Management Network and Cotton Incorporated.
This 21-minute talk by Tyson B. Raper, Assistant Professor and Cotton and Small Grains Specialist with the University of Tennessee, explains the importance of maintaining consistent soil nutrient levels to avoid negative impacts on yield and unnecessary fertilizer expenses related to over- and under-applications. That includes information to help users review the four Rs of nutrient management, monitor common yield restricting nutrients in cotton, optimize fertilizer application timing and rates, and improve liming practices and soil pH balance.
This webcast is part of the Focus on Cotton series made available by the Plant Management Network and Cotton Incorporated. The Focus on Cotton series contains more than 40 webcasts on various aspects of cotton crop management, including agronomic practices, crop protection and ag engineering. The presentations are accessible online at any time.
The resource also features a newly improved Cotton Extension Search tool, where users can conveniently search for extension resources across all U.S. land-grant universities serving cotton producers.
