ICA Bremen Offers Classing and Testing Course
March 15, 2012 Industry professionals interested in developing their skills and learning more about cotton have a new educational opportunity available to them: a cotton classing and testing course developed by the International Cotton Association (ICA) and Bremen Cotton Exchange.
ICA Bremen’s cotton classing and testing course provides participants with complete training, from the classification of cotton from various growths to practical high volume instrument (HVI) training on the latest Uster 1000 Machine or Premier Machine, as well as information on other testing equipment.
Limited to 12 students, the program offers an interactive learning experience with the flexibility needed to tailor the course to meet many special requirements. It covers a wide range of topics delivered by industry experts from ICA Bremen and the Bremen Fiber Institute (FIBRE), including:
Classing modules
- influence of cotton planting up to bale pressing on grading
- overview and evaluation of visual quality parameters
- introduction to universal standards system and world standards
- introduction to visual grading and staple pulling
- training of visual classing of US standards
- visual classing of standards of different origins
- typical parameters of different important origins
- classing various origins
- use of value differences
Laboratory modules
- cotton fibers and fiber properties
- importance of fiber properties in cotton production and processing
- cotton properties and testing instruments
- influences on test results
- verification of instrument test results
- cotton testing on Uster hvi 1000
- cotton testing on premier art2
- cotton testing on additional testing instruments
The 2012 program will run from 3 – 11 July in Bremer Baumwollboerse (BBB), Bremen, Germany, and costs EUR €2,150 (+VAT where applicable). For non-members the cost is EUR €2,500 (+VAT where applicable). Ticket prices include training and training materials; the cost of accommodation at the Atlantic Hotel, Bremen on a bed and breakfast basis (from July 2 through July 11); refreshments on working days; a visit to the local warehouse; and a farewell meal on the last day. For delegates who do not require accommodation, the cost will be reduced by EUR €1,250.
