Bayer’s Nick Hamon Honored by NC State

Nick Hamon, vice president of product development and sustainable development at Environmental Science, a business of Bayer CropScience, recently was honored by the North Carolina State University (NCSU) College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS). Hamon was awarded the CALS Volunteer of the Year Award, and was invited to join the prestigious NCSU CALS chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society for agriculture, as an honorary member.

“This Gamma Sigma Delta award is presented to a small number of select alumni and friends of the College who are outstanding agricultural leaders, rendering outstanding service to the cause of agricultural development, said Johnny Wynne, NCSU CALS Dean. “Through Nick’s service to N.C. State and to the agricultural community at large, he is deeply deserving of this recognition.”

Hamons’ work for NCSU includes: serving on the North Carolina Agricultural and Life Sciences Research Foundation, chair of the NCSU CALS Communications Committee, adjunct professor, serving on two PhD committees, NCSU career events, and involvement with the UNC general administration to build a long-term plan to improve university/industry partnership opportunities.

“Nick has certainly worked closely with NCSU over the years, and he is very deserving of this recognition,” said Josh Weeks, head of Environmental Science. “We at Bayer CropScience are very proud to have a member of our team that is so active in the local academic community.”
