AMVAC has announced their fourth annual Cotton Industry Advancement Scholarship winners. Seven students were selected from applications received across the country. Each scholarship recipient was awarded $2,000.
“Every year, I’m amazed at the number of talented students we see and the passion and excitement they have for the cotton industry,” said Paul Vaculin, Cotton Marketing Manager at AMVAC. “It’s so important to give students opportunities to grow and develop in their interests, and it’s an honor to support these young leaders as they make their mark on agriculture.”
The 2022 Cotton Industry Advancement Scholarship Winners are:
- Andrew Hart, Brooklet, GA. Junior attending the University of Georgia majoring in agricultural engineering. Nominated by Wes Harris.
- Blaine Allen, Lubbock, TX. Junior attending Texas Tech University majoring in agriculture and applied economics and business administration. Nominated by Dale Allen.
- Bryce Bullock, Seminary, MS. Senior attending Mississippi State University majoring in agronomy and integrated pest management. Nominated by Trey Bullock.
- Joshua Lee, Perry, GA. Graduate student attending the University of Georgia studying crop and soil sciences. Nominated by Jay Holder.
- Michael Bahr, Albert, KS. Sophomore attending Kansas State University majoring in agronomy. Nominated by Blake Micek.
- Nyssa Gunthorp, Stuart, FL. Senior attending the University of Florida majoring in agricultural operations management. Nominated by Kevin Cotton.
- Seth Permenter, Bells, TN. Graduate student attending Mississippi State University studying entomology. Nominated by Bill Brooks.
Winners were selected by a panel of judges and awarded based on the merits of their application. All applicants were nominated by a practicing cotton consultant and worked for a cotton consultant between 2020 and 2022. Applicants also were required to be a senior in high school or currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate-level agricultural program at an accredited college or university. Applicants who were not awarded a scholarship were given a $50 Amazon gift card for their participation.
