FIT Students Strut Their Stuff with Denim

Graduating seniors from Textile Development and Marketing Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City presented their denim projects created during spring 2011 at the Alumni and Graduating Senior Dinner on May 5. The students created four denim brands, named Solista,Calibrate, R.U.D.E., and Heartland. They focused on fabric and product development – including fiber, yarn, fabric selection and product fit– as well as marketing strategy, social media, and presentation development.

Eighteen industry advisors contributed their time and expertise to support the students’ efforts, including pros like Andrew Olah and Jenny Fong, branding and design expert Andrea Costa, Matt Durney from Nexgen Packaging, and Amy Leonard from Levi NA. The project included two new segments, including one on social media, led by Nancy Zhang from Google, Inc. and presentation development with Susan Miller of the marketing consulting firm of that name.
