ITMF Committee Approves Two Testing Instruments

The International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) gave its seal of approval to a pair of new cotton testing instruments during the association’s plenary meeting, held in Bremen, Germany on March 20.

The two instruments are:

FIBROTEST (manufactured by Textechno Herbert Stein), a device that determines the length distribution and the fiber bundle strength/elongation of short-staple fibers (especially cotton) in a direct measurement, as well as in HVICCS calibrated mode.
Premier aQura 2 (made by Premier Evolvics), an instrument used for testing the length and nep properties of cotton fiber materials at various process stages, including raw cotton and slivers as well as other processing stages and outputs.

The full recognition was made by the International Committee on Cotton Testing Methods (ICCTM), a non-profit technical ITMF committee charged with critically examining and discussing existing and new cotton testing methods and instrumentation. “Full recognition” of a testing instrument means that, according to the committee, the manufacturer has provided sufficient data and results from instrument comparison of multiple testing units in order to assess whether the instrument can be usefully applied in textile mills or for research purposes.
