Tiger Adding Stress to India Cotton Harvest

Cotton harvest can often be stressful and tough. But a recent news report out of South India adds an entirely different degree of difficulty to harvest in the Telangana area.

The January 30 online edition of the Deccan Chronicle featured an article titled Telangana Cotton farmers losing heavily as threat of tiger attack looms” – noting that local cotton farmers are missing out on completing harvest for fear of tiger attacks in the area. Farm laborers are not coming to pick cotton, even on fields close to the road. And local forest officials are not allowing farmers into fields located deep in forests where tiger movement is often found.
