USDA Announces Appointments to The Cotton Board
January 17, 2022 Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the appointment of eight members, eight alternate members, and two advisors to serve on The Cotton Board. These appointees will serve three-year terms, ending Dec. 31, 2024.
Newly appointed members are Michelle Tarry, Importer from NJ, and Tara Hoffmann, Importer from NY.
Newly appointed alternate members are Caroline P. Collins, Producer from GA; Joe Cuervo, Importer from TX; and Scott C. Wagner, Importer from FL.
Reappointed members are Adam Hatley, Producer from AZ; George Teel Warbington, Producer from GA; Jeff Posey, Producer from TX; Julie Davis Holladay, Producer from TX; Randy Braden, Producer from TX; and Sonja Chapman, Importer from NJ.
Reappointed alternate members are Ava Lynn Alcaida, Producer from AZ; Brett Schniers, Producer from TX; Jason French, Producer from TX; Steve Olson, Producer from TX; and Patricia R. Lesser, Importer from CA.
Reappointed advisors are Lamont Bridgeforth from AL and Karen Kyllo from NV.
In addition, USDA issued appointments to fill board vacancies with terms that will expire Dec. 31, 2022. The newly appointed member is Alex Armour, Producer from TN. Newly appointed alternate members are Kirk Smithwick, Importer from AL; John R. Rosman, Importer from TX; Matthew Davis, Importer from OH; Kathy Fowler, Producer from OK; and Gem Mitchell, Producer from TN.
“I am pleased to welcome this group of leaders to The Cotton Board,” said Jimmy Webb, Georgia cotton producer and current Cotton Board Chairman. “I look forward to meeting the new appointees and leaning on the experience of those who have been reappointed. The Cotton Board has an extensive orientation program set up to ensure new Members and Alternates are fully up-to-speed and prepared to participate at our upcoming March board meeting.
“On behalf of The Cotton Board, I would like to thank Secretary Vilsack for these timely appointments and thank the appointees for their willingness to share their time and expertise with the cotton industry,” he added.
Members, Alternates, and consumer advisors of The Cotton Board collaboratively represent the interests of both importers and producers to The Cotton Board and Cotton Incorporated. Their insight contributes to activities of the Cotton Research & Promotion Program targeted at improving the profitability of the entire cotton industry.
