Crop Progress: Harvest Numbers Continue to Increase

Cotton harvest is well underway across the U.S. Cotton Belt according to the USDA Crop Progress report for the week ending Oct. 22.

Beltwide, 41% of the total U.S. crop has been harvested. That’s up 8 percentage points in the past week and 2 points ahead of the 5-year average for the date. Looking at the numbers on a regional basis, growers have harvested approximately 68% of the Mid-South cotton crop, 28% of the Southeast crop, 30% of the Southwest crop, and 21% of the Western crop.

Crop condition remains fairly static, with 29% of the U.S. crop rated good/excellent, 28% fair, and 43% poor/very poor.
