First Bale of 2023 Cotton Season Is In

The first bale of cotton for 2023 was harvested June 20 in Alamo, TX.

Alamo, TX is again home to the first bale of the 2023 cotton season.

Wesley Vanderpool, who also submitted the first bale in 2022, harvested a field of Stoneville ST 4990B3XF on June 20. The field was planted on Feb. 7, and the harvested bale was ginned at Willacy Co-Op Gin in Sebastian, TX.

The bale will be auctioned off at the annual First Bale of Cotton Auction and Scholarship Fundraiser on Sept. 14 in Harlingen, Texas.
