Americot Adds Two New NexGen Varieties for 2020

Americot, Inc. is adding two new NexGen varieties for 2020 to provide growers additional high quality, high-yielding options with excellent disease tolerance packages to protect yields.

NG 4098 B3XF is a new medium-maturing variety boasting best-in-class fiber quality and Bollgard 3 XtendFlex Technology. This variety performed very well in stressful environments in 2019 thanks to excellent heat tolerance and exceptional overall disease package to enhance yield potential. Testing of this variety was completed through Americot’s ACE Trials in 2019 as AMX 19A006 B3XF.

NG 4050 XF is an XtendFlex variety, ideal for the Plains of Texas and Oklahoma. NG 4050 XF is a medium-maturing variety with solid disease tolerance to Verticillium wilt, excellent tolerance to bacterial blight and outstanding fiber package and yield potential. The variety was tested through Americot’s ACE Trials in 2019 as AMX 19A021 XF.

NexGen varieties from Americot are bred specifically to meet the unique growing needs of the various Cotton Belt regions. In addition to the extensive portfolio of performance-proven varieties, Americot’s cotton breeding program led by Dr. Lloyd McCall and germplasm specialists team led by Dr. Doug Jost is constantly driving to improve the performance level and quality of NexGen varieties this year and for years to come.

“For 2020, we’re really excited about the new NG 4098 B3XF,” Jost said. “It handled the stressful 2019 crop year very well, and we saw excellent adaptability across multiple soil types. NG 4098 was a top performer in the 2019 ACE Trials.”
