Post-Direct and Hooded Options for Pigweed Control

Many cotton acres are nearing the true layby application timing.  Considering how Palmer amaranth – or pigweed – seems to just keep coming this year, these directed applications are critical to obtain and maintain consistent pigweed control.

In his blog Post-Direct and Hooded Mixtures, University of Tennessee Extension Weed Specialist Larry Steckel notes that glufosinate (Liberty) has displaced glyphosate as the most common herbicide used for post-direct or hooded operations. Yet, other options are available, and Steckel offers his thoughts on mixtures for growers to consider.
