Information and Education Highlight 2015 Mid-South Farm and Gin Show

The return of robins usually means that spring is just around the corner. But for many Mid-South farmers and their families, the annual Mid-South Farm and Gin Show signals the end of “meeting season” and the start of a new production year.

The 2015 Mid-South Farm and Gin Show – now in its 63rd year – returns to the Cook Convention Center in Memphis February 27-28. The region’s largest farm show is once again filled to capacity, featuring more than 400 exhibitors focused on fiber and grain production.

The show features something of interest to nearly every visitor (15,000 to 18,000 attendees are projected). And although farmers still like to kick tractor tires and talk shop, Tim Price, show manager with the Southern Cotton Ginners Association, believes many of them may have more on their mind this year.

“We’ve entered a different phase in terms of commodity prices compared to the past few years,” he explained. “Producers know that adopting new technologies and learning about new and improved ways to farm economically, efficiently and sustainably is now longer a luxury. It’s a necessity.”

The Mid-South Farm and Gin Show has always provided a showcase for the newest products, services and technologies available. But it has also become an important forum for information and education that growers rely on when making last minute cropping decisions.
