Other issues to be addressed include:
• The importance of inland exports to the balance of the Transpacific trade.
• Major changes to the shipping industry now reporting losses for the first quarter of 2011.
• Larger ships to enhance efficiency.
• Bunker costs and the challenges they bring to passing on these costs.
• Chassis policy and the major changes to the North American infrastructure in the next two years.
• Equipment supply and access.

“The session will wrap up when we address the question, ‘Where is the industry going, and how does the cotton trade fit into the market conditions for the next few years in regards to the Transpacific scope?’” Zaninelli says. “As tight as the market is, there is little room for delays or errors in logistics, so this is an area that cotton and textile professionals all over the world are paying extra attention to.”

TOPIC: Yuan Haiying, “China: market opportunities for foreign businesses”

No country in the world draws more attention than China, the world’s top producer and importer of cotton. Changing trends in government and business activities are of tremendous importance to the cotton industry, adding to attendee interest in this session.

“My presentation will focus on China’s new five year plan, the outlook for the upcoming 5 years, and the business climate for foreign invested enterprises (FIEs) in China,” Yuan Haiying says. “In addition, I will deliver an impact analysis regarding the effects of the five year plan – China’s twelfth.

“My goal is to give those in the audience who have, or will have, business relations with China a better understanding of the operating environment there, so that they can adjust their strategies to fit China’s political and economic environment,” he says.
