UPDATE: 2020 International Cotton Institute Canceled

Per a March 19 decision by the American Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA) and the University of Memphis, the International Cotton Institute for 2020 has been canceled, with the expectation of resuming the educational program in 2021.

“Not surprisingly given the virus, travel restrictions will prevent students and guest faculty from getting to Memphis and participating, and we fear many of those already registered won’t be able to get here as well,” says Jerry Marshall, Institute director.

The ACSA International Cotton Institute is a six-week residential program hosted by the Fogleman Center at the University of Memphis. The program – which has held 23 annual classes – is designed to provide an overall education in all aspects of the cotton industry and the international business environment. The in-depth curriculum focuses on cotton from multiple perspectives, including risk management, marketing and research, classing standards, price protection and law.

The Institute faculty consists of industry experts from many of the well-known cotton merchants and companies. Their combined experiences in all aspects of the U.S. and international cotton industries provide current real-world information and training for Institute students.

Dates for the 2021 Institute have not been determined. For updates and other information about the program, visit the Institute’s website.
