Many cotton growers in Mississippi are looking to harvest a potentially above-average crop thanks to an excellent start and the needed heat units in June and July.
USDA’s Crop Progress report for the week ending Sept. 4 notes that open bolls are now visible in 39% of U.S. cotton acres – 7 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average.
